MANSFIELD: Frederick "Fred" C. Stahlheber, age 79, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in the Manor House of Wedgewood Estates following a long illness.

He was born February 11, 1933 in Mansfield, the son of Frederick J. and Grace (Davis) Stahlheber, and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. Fred earned his Bachelor's Degree from Miami University.

A U.S. Army veteran, Fred served two years overseas in Germany.

On December 27, 1963 he married Phyllis Stanton with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage.

For 29 years Fred worked as an accountant for Sprint in Mansfield.

A lifelong area resident, Fred was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where he served the congregation as a Deacon and usher.

Very active in the Mansfield community, Fred was a member of the Kingwood Men's Garden Club, Venus Lodge #152 F&AM, and Baku Grotto. He volunteered his time as a driver for Bridge the Gap.

He enjoyed reading, often completing several books a week.

Described as loving and gentle, Fred will be remembered for his kind and caring ways.

In addition to his loving wife Phyllis of Mansfield, Fred is survived three daughters and sons-in-law Stephanie and Harry Lentz of Mansfield, Allison and Terry Bradford of Hilliard, Sarah and Steve Zirkle of Wyoming, Minnesota, three grandchildren Mac Lentz, Dustin Bradford and his fiancée Merceydez Perry, and Rodney and Jamie Bradford; a great grandson Jaxson Bradford; a sister and brother-in-law Gwendolyn and Jim Herbert of Zellwood, Florida and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Andrew Charles Stahlheber.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 12 pm noon in First Presbyterian Church, 399 South Trimble Road, Mansfield. The Stahlheber family will receive friends in the church parlor the hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Stanley will officiate. Private interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
