She came to Texas by way of covered wagon in February, 1895 and settled near Hillsboro, Texas.
She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Atkins, in Hillsboro, Texas in 1897. She moved with her husband to Runnels County, Texas in 1904 and bought land near Wilmeth, Texas.
She and her husband, Robert Lee, farmed that land until he passed in 1925. She continued to farm in Wilmeth to support herself and her family until 1940, when she moved to San Diego, California.
After the war, she returned to Wilmeth and lived there on the family farm until 1955, when she moved to Winters, Texas, due to failing health. She lived there until her death on June 5, 1961.
She had eight children; Grady Lee, Ruth Ann, Richard Pinkney, Manor Guy, Fred, Donald Flake, Barbara Leona and Susan Lanell Atkins.
