He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Charles Archie Williams Sr., worked as a printer for 17 years at Southern Specialty Printing, Gastonia, in the maintenance department for the town of Ranlo, member of the Ranlo Church of God, Masonic South Fork Lodge No. 462, graduate of Ashley High School, Gastonia.
