Leonard was born May 26, 1921 in Wien, MO a son of Otto George and Louise Elizabeth (Steffes) Fessler. On June 24, 1947 in Salisbury, he married Bernilda Henke who preceded him in death on June 21, 2002.
Leonard was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the US Army during WWII.
Leonard is survived by six sons, Jonnie Fessler (Karen), Gerald Fessler (Marcia), Glen Fessler (Bridgett), Dale Fessler (Tracey), Melvin Fessler (Deanne) all of Salisbury, MO, and Leon Fessler of Huntsville, MO; four dauthers, Marilyn Botkin (Eric), Janet Cleeton (Gary), Bonnie Thomas (David) all of Salisbury, MO, Mary Ellen Leathers (Ben) of Cairo, MO; 29 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, one brother, Richard Fessler; two sisters, Afra Weimer and Leona Clark; one son Ernest at infancy.
Visitation is Friday, June 27, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School Foundation or the St. Joseph Cemetery Association.
