The son of Merrill and Myra (Sampson) Stimpson, he served with the US Army Air Corps from 1945-6.

Dean was a full-time firefighter with the Abington, Ma, Fire Department from 1955-69, when he retired and moved to NH with his first wife Norma to become part owners in the Foxy Johnnie B. Restaurant in New Durham. Norma passed away in October of 1973. Dean was married to Elaine Chagnon on January 7, 1977. He sold his interest in the Foxy in 1982, but continued to work there as a bartender until January 2002.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Farmington Country Club for many years, winning many trophies, also a member of American Legion Post #72 in Alton.

Dean served the Town of New Durham as Selectman, Moderator, Budget Committee and as Captain on the New Durham Fire Department.

He was a loving husband, who cherished his family above all else and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by his wife Norma in 1973 and wife Elaine in 2004, he is survived by their 12 children, 27 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, a niece and 3 nephews.
