He was the spouse of Norma Lee Rogge Smith. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary eight months before their deaths. After Norma's death Austin followed her in death less than 60 hours later.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters Joyce & Sadie and one brother George.
Survivors are one sister Twila, and three brothers Bob, Colman, and Jim.
Austin was an Army Veteran.World War II
He was very active in politics.
Had retired as an auditor for Kroger company, worked for Indiana Kentucky Electric, then purchased a farm and he and Norma raised cattle. They then retired from that and moved to Florida where they lived many years enjoying time together, As they became older and began to have some health issued, they moved back to Indiana and spent the last year or so of their life at The Villages At Historic Silvercrest in New Albany.
