Private services were arranged by the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, for John M. Balthaser, 73, formerly of Strausstown, who died Jan. 24 in the Mifflin Center, where he had been a resident for more than two years. Burial was in Heidelberg Cemetery, Heidelberg Township. He was the husband of Phyllis A. (Wolfskill) Balthaser, Reading. Born in Centre Township, he was a son of the late John R. and Ada (Blatt) Balthaser. Until retiring in 1992, he was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Zion Blue Mountain United Church of Christ, Strausstown. Also surviving are five daughters, Jacquelyn F. (Balthaser) Haas, Lititz, Lancaster County; Connie Lee (Balthaser) Himmelberger, Brandywine, Md.; JoAnn (Balthaser) Steinmetz, Myerstown; Billie Jean (Balthaser) Wagner, Frystown; and Carol L. (Balthaser) Wenrich, Wernersville. There are also six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
