He had four siblings, namely: James, Mary Jane, Elizabeth, and Samantha. He died on 22 Mar 1893 in Appanoose, Iowa, USA. When he was 23, He married Elizabeth Wells,daughter of John Boyd Wells and Mary Margaret Hawkins, on 28 Jul 1831 in Paris, Jennings , Indiana, USA. When he was 42, He married Sarah M Talbert,daughter of James Bull Talbert and Nancy Potter, on 11 Dec 1850 in Brownsburg, Hendricks, Indiana, USA.
