Charles O. Davis was 1st sergeant in Company E, 149 IL US Infantry. His Civil War records list him as 5'11" with fair hair and dark eyes, unmarried, a resident of Grant township (Vermilion County, IL.) and a teacher. He was 21 years old at either the time he mustered in (Feb 6, 1865) or at the time he died of disease in Chattanooga (March 2, 1865).
