atherine A. Ross, 79, of Elyria, a bookkeeper at the former A&P grocery store in Elyria for 37 years, died Monday at EMH Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Sheffield Township, she lived in Elyria most of her life.

She worked at A&P until retiring in 1977.

Miss Ross was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and the church's Altar and Rosary Society.

She enjoyed cooking, golfing, watching the Cleveland Indians and attending various sports events.

Survivors include brothers James and Rocky Ross, both of Elyria, and Casey Ross of Cleveland; nieces Katherine Larizza and Deborah Conner, both of Elyria, who helped take care of her; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Christine Ross; sisters Nancy DellaTorre, Lucille Guerreri, Mary Diangiacomo and Carmella Larissa; and brothers Joseph Versace, Gus Versace and Nick Ross.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road and State Route 57, Elyria, where services will be 9 a.m. Thursday.

A Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Joseph Weigand will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Elyria.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria 44035 or a charity of the donor's choice.
