Cidney Sutfield
Practiced Law 50 Years After Earning TU Degree

Cidney D. Sutfield, of Norwich Road, who practiced law in Toledo for 50 years, died yesterday in Mercy Hospital. He was 92.

Mr. Sutfield was from Alsatia, La., and attended school in Jefferson City, Mo., before completing the study of law at the University of Toledo, where he worked his way through school as a barber and shoemaker.

He was a member of the Toledo and the National Bar Associations from 1932 to 1982.

He was past Grand Exalted Ruler of Elks Golden Rule Lodge No. 129, and was active in the Republican Party, the YMCA and the Frederick Douglass Community Center.

He was a past president of the Dunbar Civic Club and was a member of the Third Baptist Church.

Mr. Sutfield is survived by his wife, Lola: sons, Kermit, Cidney Jr., Richard, Konni, Menahem and Brian; daughters, Mrs. Alice Davis and Mrs. Elaine Moody; stepson Chessie Jeffries; and stepdaughters Julia Jeffries and Lola Jackson.

Elks services will be held at 7:30pm Tuesday at the Sherrill Mortuary, where the body will be after 1pm Tuesday. Funeral services at 11am Wednesday in the church.
