Beverly Eileen Fink Eggert, 50, of Seal Beach, Calif., died of cancer Friday, June 18, 2004.

Born June 5, 1954, in Brookville, she was the daughter of James C. and Lillian McGee Fink.

Eggert's family moved in 1958 from Brookville to DuBois. Mrs. Eggert was a 1972 graduate of DuBois High School. She then graduated in 1976 from Penn State as a biochemist, and graduated one year later from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Mrs. Eggert then worked as the head of the stat lab until 1980 at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore. She also completed lab work for the hospital's intensive care unit.

After moving to California, Mrs. Eggert worked until 1989 for Beckman Industries. She later worked for Veterinary Animal Clinics of America in Irvine, Calif., through January 2004. A running enthusiast, Mrs. Eggert was a founding member of a running club in Seal Beach, Calif. She loved animals, having taken in many stray cats and dogs throughout her lifetime. An accomplished musician, she learned to play piano by ear when she was 5 years old and played until her death. Mrs. Eggert was a member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church of Los Alamitos, Calif.

She was married for 18 years to Timothy Eggert, who survives. Also surviving are her mother of Clarion; her daughter and son, Kasey, 13, and Steven, 11, both of Seal Beach, Calif.; one sister, Phyllis Bathurst of Towson, Md.; three brothers, David Fink of Columbus, Ohio, James Fink of Reisterstown, Md., and John Fink of Dundalk, Md.; a stepsister, Diane Mitchell of Sherwood, Md.; and two stepbrothers, Frederick Stahlman of Naples, Fla., and Jeffery Stahlman of West Bristol. Mrs. Eggert was preceded in death by her father and stepfather, Dr. Frederick B. Stahlman.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, Calif. Graveside committal services will immediately follow the service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a trust fund for Eggert's children in care of Trent Berglin at the Seal Beach Wells Fargo Bank, (562) 799-6379. Contributions also may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 11600 Los Alamitos Blvd., Los Alamitos, Calif., 90740.
