Tony Minnis, 58, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Erlanger Medical Center of Chattanooga.
A native of Bristol, and a longtime resident of Decatur, he was a son of the late Kenneth Hoyle and Myrtle Josephine Swafford Minnis.
He had been a truck driver and enjoyed horses, fishing, his dog, Toby, his grandkids and life. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie, of Decatur; three daughters, Angela Minnis, Melissa Miller, and her husband, Charlie, of Decatur, and Laura Martin of Decatur; five grandchildren, Dixie and Dylan, and Austin, Hanna and Zachery; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Ed Bowers of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tebbie and Greg Marchi of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, Terry Minnis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tom Minnis of Panama City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 7 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Burial was 2 p.m. Sunday in Short Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charlie Miller, Ricky Bright, Eric Wilson, Ralph Minnis, Ben Bright, and Devin Bowers.
The family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
