During the Great Depression, his family left Vermont to start a new life in Hanover, NH where he actively participated in the family orchestra.
He was a graduate of Hanover High School*. John received a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College* in 1949.
At age 18, John entered the Army and served in WWII in the 75th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars for his service.
He is survived by his five children; John; Ann; Paul; Jim; Jane.
He was predeceased by his wife, Therese in 2006.
