She met and married Vernon Garland in Belleville, IL - they married on 2 Sep 1944.
They have three daughters in birth order are Lois Jean, Judith Lee, and Linda Louise.
She worked as a Switch Board Operator at Holiday Inn in Madison, Wisconsin and Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL.
She was a member and Past President of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Belleville, IL. A member of Zion Lutheran Church. Allene and Vernon bowled together and on separate leagues - often winning the high score trophies. They also played cards Bridge or Pinochle - sometimes with friends and sometimes in a league. She enjoyed entertaining/serving friends in their home.
She loved to play Bingo - she was very superstitious and had to have the number 13 on all her cards. (In those days you picked out your cards before the games began).
She had a green thumb for African Violets - and she loved working and canning the produce from their vegetable garden.
She enjoyed TRAVELING, quilting and crocheting. She mostly enjoyed her family - especially when the grandchildren came to visit. Being a military family two of her daughters had married military and lived a long distance from home.
In 1987 She traveled to Saudi Arabia to visit with Lois, and they took a trip back to Germany to visit old friends.
After winning $100 at Bingo 13 November 1987 she suffered an asthma attack - She died 16 November 1987 at Scott AFB, IL hospital and was buried in Valhalla Gardens of Memory cemetery in Belleville, IL
