Billie "Bill" Bruce Baker passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the age of 89 in The Woodlands, Texas. He lived in Willis, Texas and his untimely passing was caused by an unexpected, sudden onset of leukemia and pneumonia. Bill was born on Friday, March 13, 1925 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Lee Baker and Jewel Foster. He had 2 older sisters, Elizabeth and Elsie, and an older brother, Newman. He was married on August 10, 1946 to Audrey Louise. He joined the Navy in January 1942 and once World War II was over, he returned home. After being discharged from the Navy, he was self-employed for many years in the automotive and construction industries. His greatest joy was spending time with all of his family. He also enjoyed doing things outdoors such as riding his tractor and planting fruit trees as well as cooking. Bill had a great life and would want everyone to reminisce about the great memories he created with us. He had a passion for helping people his whole life, even if it meant it cost him something. He always said "I would rather do something for somebody than ask someone else to do something for me." Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Audrey Baker of Willis, Texas, children, Vickie (and Frank) Messer of Houston, Texas, Ronald (and Elizabeth) Baker of Houston, Texas, and Patrick (and Barbara) Baker of Willis, Texas, grandchildren, Angela (and Flad) Patterson, James (and Holly) Messer, Summer (and Tom) Hoff, Robert (and Amanda) Baker, Ryan (and Mariah) Baker, Kevin Baker, Shane Baker, and Elizabeth Baker, great-grandchildren Autumn Patterson, Chloe Patterson, Skylar Patterson, Marley Messer, Rhett Messer, Mason Messer, Max Hoff, Rocket Hoff, and Bentley Baker, and dog, Misty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Jewel, his son Robert, and his siblings Elizabeth, Newman, and Elsie. Visitation will take place at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
