Robert G. Doshan

Robert G. Doshan, age 91 of Crosby passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Crosby on December 6, 1922 to Amanda (Jelic) and Rade Doshan. He graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School class of 1941. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943, serving in the European Theater until his honorable discharge in 1946. After leaving the Navy he attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. He returned to Crosby to work at Zontelli's and Inland Steel until the closure of Inland Steel. In 1969, the family moved to Spring Lake Park where Bob was an electrician foreman for the city of Minneapolis. In 1989, Bob retired and he and his wife, Josie, took up winter residence in North Port, Florida. He married Elizabeth Fleuker in 1950 and had 2 sons, Jeff and Terry and 1 daughter Jane. After her death he married Josephine Adams in 1963. They had one son, Jon Adam Doshan. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby and the Serbian Sisters. Bob had a love of music and after leaving the Navy pursued becoming a professional singer.

He is survived by his wife, Josie; sons, Jeff, Terry and Jon and daughter Jane; Grandchildren, Jessica Hann, Jolene and Corey Stewart, Julie Hann and Megan and Brady O'Leary; five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.; 3 brother-in-laws, Larry Rantasha, Jerry Adams and Fred Engel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rade and Amanda Doshan Radmonovich; step father, Peter Radmonovich; brothers, Dan and Joe Doshan and Peter Radmonovich; sisters, Dorothy Doshan Minarich Rude, Millie Doshan Marron, Elsie Doshan Engel, Donnie Radmonovich McPherson.

Funeral services will be held 11 am on Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given the Myrin James American Legion Post #442, Ironton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Crosby Food Shelf.
