Funeral service for Jesse Andis, 82, of 2401 Fairington, will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Reed and Jewell Funeral Home where persons may call from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Andis died at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Bartholomew County Hospital following a six-month illness.
He was born in Shelby County Jan. 20, 1899, the son of Frank and America Duncan Andis. He married Edith M. Johnson Andis Nov. 23, 1919, at Knightstown. She died Oct. 15, 1975. He was a retired maintenance superintendent for the Parks and Recreation Department and also was a retired farmer. He had lived in Bartholomew County since 1935 when he moved from Rush County.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur F. Andis of 460 S. Brooks and Lonnie E. Andis of 422 Daugherty; a daughter, Alberta Otto of 4232 31st; a brother, Raymond Andis of Morristown; two sisters, Mary Knopp and Elizabeth (Jimmie) Andis, both of Shelbyville, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
