Services for Joyce Connell, 66, of Abernathy will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrie officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

She died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.

She was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Spur and married Joe Connell on Dec. 2, 1955, in Lubbock. He died April 26, 1981. She had lived in the Abernathy area since 1961 when she moved from Dimmitt. She was secretary for the County Line Co-op Gin and then became an insurance agent for US Life Insurance Co. from 1984 until 1988.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Abernathy First Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years at the County Line First Baptist Church and later at Abernathy First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Jack of Abernathy and Cody of Slidell, La.; a daughter, Cindy Lutrick of Abernathy; a brother, Roy McMahan of Littlefield; a sister, Bea Russell of Lamesa; and seven grandchildren.
