Cecil Raymond Mecum is the son of Horace Thomas Mecum ( 1855-1924) and Isabelle "Bell" Asherbranner ( 1857-1949). He is the twin brother of Eugene E. Mecum. His other siblings are: Francis Erert Mecum (1878-1879), Vivian Mecum (1880-1955), Henry Otto Mecum (1882-1918), Ethel Mecum (1887-1954), Ray Mecum (1887-1892), Phillip Cohen Mecum (1890-1959), Emma Luemma Mecum (1892-1966), Cora Mecum (1895-1942), and twin brother: Eugene W. Mecum (1899-1981). Cecil married Ethel Marie Carlson on October 18, 1919. Together, they had two sons: Cecil Raymond Mecum (1927-1973) and Fred Dwane Mecum 1928-). Cecil was seventy-five at the time of his death.
