On November 23, 1852, she was married to Jonas Conrad Whitener. She was the mother of seven sons, three of whom preceded the mother into eternity.
She died in peace April 12, 1903 at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 7 days. Her husband died in 1871, and for 32 years, she lived a widow with all the cares of the support and the bringing up of her children thrown upon her.
She was a kind, affectionate, and devoted Christian mother, much interested in the welfare and salvation of her children. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor at Zion Lutheran Church on the 13th inst. in the presence of a large assembly of kindred and friends.
Rev. J. C. Moser was her pastor and kept a diary. At her funeral he used the scripture II Timothy 4: 7,8.
(7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (8) Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
She married Jonas Conrad Whitener Nov. 23, 1852 in Catawba Co.
