Pawnee Stokely, age 92, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Newport Medical Center. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Selma Rogers; daughter, Norma Proffitt; sister, Rachael Manning; and great-granddaughter, Lindsey Hazelwood.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Christine Stokely; half-brother, Billy Joe Dyer. Grandchildren, Roger (Melissa) Stokely; Gary (Melanie) Moyers; Dale (Sonya) Turner; and Sherry Turner; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jordan Stokely, Sylar Seagle and Maisie Hazelwood; niece Sherryl (Johnny) Luttrell; and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cleo Williamson, Rev. Junior Gorrell and Rev, Kris Brady officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Knoxville Scottish Rite Mercy Fund; P. O. Box 708, Knoxville, TN 37901. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
