Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Pallbearers are George's grandchildren. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
George Edward King was born December 23, 1926, in Port Byron, Illinois, the son of Francis and Eva (Spaid) King. He married Jean Alice Marten on April 24, 1948, in Davenport. He was employed as a truck driver his entire life, retiring in 1988. Jean preceded him in death on July 21, 1984. He enjoyed trucking, fishing and reading. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family.
Surviving are five daughters, Marilyn (Butch) Thomas of Davenport, Marjorie LaMaack of Council Bluffs, Maxine (Jim) Baker of Boone, Marsha (Pat) Foster of Plymouth, IL, and Myla (Jim) Olson of Boone; 12 grandchildren, Laurie Boemecke, Sheri Paper, Ken Pennock, David LaMaack, Mindy Faber, Scott Baker, Eric Baker, Jessi Shoopman, Jake Foster, Mandy Leslie, Sara Foy and Kasey Foy; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Ann Bouchaute.
