Veronica Calhoun, 25, and her son, Alan Calhoun, 7, died June 24 from injuries received in an auto accident. Mrs. Calhoun was born in Laredo, Texas, and lived in Jeff Davis County nine years. She was employed at Amoco of Hazlehurst. Alan was born in Coffee County and attended Jeff Davis Primary School.
Survivors include his father, Tony Calhoun of Hazlehurst; sister, Kimberly Calhoun of Hazlehurst; his paternal grandfather, Daniel Calhoun of Hazlehurst; his maternal grandmother, Fidelia Gonzalez of Hazlehurst; his maternal grandfather, Benito Gonzalez of Laredo; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, Hazlehurst. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with burial in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
