Born in Tacoma, Wash., the fourth child of Peter and Norina Salatino.

Elvira died of a respiratory arrest at the age of 90 on February 27,2008, in Yakima, Wash.

During her late teen years she began her short singing career, becoming known as Tacoma's own Italian Torch Singer, until her marriage to Sonny Bailey in 1941.

She is survived by her children, son William Bailey of Ellensburg, WA, and daughter Judy of Whitefish, MT as well as 5 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Tacoma on March 10, 2008 at 1:00pm
Memorial gifts would gratefully be accepted by St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
