One of four children, she was born Velda Colleen Davis on May 20, 1950, in Springfield, Missouri to Reverend Howard Lee and Betty Jewel (Napier) Davis. She was raised on the family dairy farm and continued to work alongside her father until taking a job with Casey's General Stores in 1991. Velda was employed with Casey's for nearly 23 years and was planning to retire. Her pizza making skills were legendary in Seymour but she was more well-known as an always smiling, friendly and happy lady with genuine heart of gold who never said a cross word about anyone.
She married Glen Holcomb of Seymour in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on August 15, 2006, and they continued to live in Seymour and build a life together.
Velda was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Davis in August 2006.
