Bettye Baumgardner age 84 of Wellington, died Sunday, June 17, 2018.

She was born on July 15, 1933 in Mart, to William Newton and Josephine Toten Price. She married David M. Baumgardner on May 7, 1954 in Wellington.

Bettye graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1950. She attended Clarendon College and what is now West Texas A&M University in Canyon. She began her career working in the Collingsworth County Clerk's office, then with Howard Riggs Accounting office. While working there she took an exam and passed it to become an Enrolled Agent to practice before the IRS. She later worked at the Wellington State Bank. In 1972 began working as a program assistant at the FSA office of the USDA. She retired in 2004 after 32 years of service. During this time, she also kept her income tax preparation business going and was an integral part of the family farming operation, as well as a wonderful wife and mother at home.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Bettye was a former member of the Collingsworth County Museum Board and the Wellington Activity Center Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother Harvie Price and 2 sisters Vickie McCulloch and Norma Dee McKelvy.

Her survivors include her daughter Juliana Moore of Wiesbaden, Germany; 2 sons, Joe Baumgardner and wife Melanie of Wellington and David Baumgardner, Jr and wife Kelley of Oak Point; a sister, Joyce Rene Bettis and husband Leon of Amarillo; sister- in- law, June Price of Clarendon and 6 grandchildren Tate, Caleb, Will, Sara, Luke, and Cooper Baumgardner.
