Born June 4, 1927 in Potosi a son to Amos and Oma (nee Maness) Coleman. He died on June 21, 2014 at the Hillcrest Care Center at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Wilma (nee Prather) Coleman, De Soto; two daughters: Brenda (Lloyd) Filkins, Hillsboro, and Frances (Robert) Hardin, De Soto, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Muriel Coleman, Potosi. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters: Frances DeClue, Naomi Coleman, Ann Comillo, Edith Dieter, Henry Coleman, Ben Coleman, and Roy Coleman. Walter was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and with his wife owened and operated the De Soto Cafe.
