Mr. Waltemeyer was born Dec. 19, 1903, in Logan Township, the son of Joseph D. and Mary Preston Waltemeyer.
He spent his early life at Van Cleve and was graduated from the Van Cleve High School. He was employed as a machinist at Lennox Industries until retiring in April. 1969.
He was a veteran of World War II and a former member of the American Legion. Mr. Waltemeyer was married to Faye Reedy Dec. 3, 1925, in Marshalltown.
His widow survives, also two children, Max E. Waltemeyer, Houston. Texas, and Miss Vae J. Waltemeyer, Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. A.M. (Hazel) DeButts, Melbourne, and Mrs. James (Edna Mae) Devin, Muscatine, and one grandson.
