Robert was one of nine children born to Robert and Helen (Wilson) More. He came to America in 1846 with his family. His father died shortly after the family settled here.
Robert married Ellen J. Bass in 1869 and they had four children. Mr. More represented Rock County in the state assembly in 1899, served on the county board for 11 years, assessor of Bradford Township for nine years and justice of the peace for 10 years. His greatest interest was the Rock County poor Farm and Assylum. He served them as trustee for 26 years.
