Thomas Wilcox, son of Thomas and Winnifred Tally Wilcox, husband of Louisa Frier Wilcox, moved to Odessa Missouri in 1850 from their home in Appling County Georgia. Two of their oldest daughters remained in Coffee County Georgia with family members, however the 1850 census for LaFayette county Missouri lists 11 children with Thomas and Louisa.

Thomas served in the US Army during the Mexican War and as a bugler with the 5th Regiment Missouri Cavalry (CSA) during the Civil War.
