James served in the Civil War, CSA, Co B 28th LA Inf C.S.A. "Marks Guards."
He was the son of Isaac and Jane Webb Rasberry.

(Note: On the 1900 Brekenridge Springs, Panola, Texas Census it shows a May Nail as mother-in-law to James B. Rasberry. It may be possible that Mary Frances "Fannie" Hickey's mother married twice.) Other sources show James' wife as Frances Emaline Hickey. In addition, I cannot find Texas death certificates for neither Fannie or her son Allen Jackson Rasberry, Sr.
