Obituary
Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church in Orange City May 8 for Mrs. Gerrit J. DeHaan, 87, longtime resident of Orange City community, who died at the Orange City hospital May 4. Services were conducted by the Rev. R. Van Heukelom and burial was made in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City.

Mrs. DeHaan, nee Gertie Roetman, was born in The Netherlands July 3, 1881. She was married to Gerrit DeHaan at Orange City February 13, 1908. The couple made their home on a farm near Orange City until retiring and moving into Orange City about 25 years ago. Mrs. DeHaan had been a resident of the Hull Nursing home the past few months.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Anna Roetman of Orange City; six sons, Henry, Marion and John, all of Orange City, Chris of Chester, S. D., Gary of Detroit, Mich., and Bernard of Sioux Falls; 20 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.
