Born to Bobbie and Arnold H. White. She and her parents moved to Lawton from Texas when she was a young girl. She had fond memories of helping her parents with their restaurant business. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1946. She married William Tell "Bill" Dixon on June 8, 1947, at Centenary United Methodist Church. He died April 4, 2005. She attended Cameron College and graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She loved teaching and taught at Eisenhower Junior High School for 26 years. She loved seeing former students who always said she was one of their favorite teachers. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lawton Junior Service League, national, state and local teacher's organizations and Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. She was involved in two bridge clubs and was chairperson of the Bicentennial Pageant for Lawton Public Schools in 1976.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Judy Dixon, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra J. and Randy Hess, Okmulgee; and three grandchildren: Aaron M. Dixon, Beverly Hills, Calif.; Lauren Hess, Boston; and Joan Hess, Tulsa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorial services were held at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frankye A. Johnson, pastor, officiating. A private family entombment was at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
