Mr. and Mrs. Robert Delvin, this city, returned Monday from Berrien Springs, Mich., after attending the funeral of Mr. Delvin's father, Charles W. Delvin, 85, a native of this county and former resident here, who died last Friday at his home in Berrien Springs after having been in failing health for a number of years.

Mr. Delvin was born in Clear Creek township in March, 1861, to John and Nancy Hullabargert (sic) Delvin.

Mr. Delvin will be remembered by older residents of the city and county as having engaged in the sprinkling business and as far back as the horse and buggy days he sprinkled the city streets. In later years he held the contract for disposal of the city's garbage and from 1907 to 1910 he was fire chief under Mayor D.C Anderson. In later year he engaged in various activities including farming. He moved with this family from this county 21 years ago.

Surviving are four children, J. Howard Delvin, Berrien Springs, Mich,. Robert Delvin, this city, Mrs. Ethel Louehenbert, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Audrey Delvin, Cleveland, Ohio. A daughter, Goldie Lewis and two sons, Lewis and Charles Delvin, Jr. are dead.

Funeral services and burial were held Monday at St. Joseph, Mich.
