Jimmy Wayne Foster, age 59, of Mount Vernon, passed away in the mid-afternoon hours of Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jimmy was born on February 9, 1955 in Paris, Texas to the late Wesley Wayne and Carole Yvonne Fulbright Foster. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School and went on to work for himself as a contractor building houses and later driving a truck for Pilgrim's Pride in Mount Pleasant.

Jimmy married the love of his life, his best friend, Mary Ola Teague, on May 24, 1974 at her parents' home in Mount Vernon. After 40 years of raising a family and a lifetime of memories, she survives.

Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. He was an avid gun collector and loved to shoot and reload shells. Jimmy fought cancer head on for more than 3 years. He took treatments and battled non-stop till the end always fighting for life and wanting to be here for his beloved family. Even in dying, Jimmy showed what it meant to love, live, and fight. He leaves behind a life cut short but a legacy for all to follow.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Mary; two sons, James Wesley Foster, and wife Cassie, and William Grady Foster, and wife, Katie, all of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Cameron Foster and Ace Foster, both of Mount Vernon; one sister, Vicki Foster of Mount Vernon; mother-in-law, Jean Teague, of Mount Vernon; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Jessie B. Fulbright, and his father-in-law, Grady Teague.

Services for Jimmy Wayne Foster will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon with Bro. Pepper Puryear and Bro Daniel Ledford officiating. A testimony of Jimmy's life will be provided by Joe Kuhl. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Phill Challenner, Danny Christenberry, Rick Matos, Bill Newsome, Brian Patterson, George Redar, Don Reddin, and Jim Weatherford serving as pallbearers. Zak Adams, Jim Barnes, Bill Brasher, Bobby Broughton, Steve Cook, Bob Eakin, Rick Flanagan, Paul Fletcher, Johnnie Foster, Lavigne Gaskin, Larkin Jumper, Cliff Marks, Larry Millikin, Fred Randalls, Randy Rich, Ricky Schults, Dan Smith, Ken Swinford, Joe Warner, Frank Wilmeth, and Glen Zachary serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
