Maxine Hartzler, 96, passed away at 12:50 A.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Pleasant Escape, Logansport, Indiana.

She was born May 26, 1918 in Cass County, Indiana, the daughter of Walker and Mary (Wilson) Casper. On December 17, 1938, in Sharon, Indiana, she was married to William Hartzler by the Rev. J.E. Yarian. William preceded her in death on March 28, 1989.

Maxine had worked for many years at Wiles Department Store, Frick Hardware, in Fulton, Indiana, and retired from Canterbury Manor, Rochester, Indiana. She was a life-long member of the Fulton United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school and adult classes there. She was also a member of the 3 C's Club, Ladies Aid, and a 56 year member of the Rochester Eastern Star. Maxine was an avid reader who also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Shelby Jo Hartzler, Green Bay, Wisc., William and wife Kathy Hartzler, Rochester, Loisann and husband Herd Crimmins, Lucerne, Indiana, 10 grandchildren, Heidi and husband Rick Moon, Logansport, Tyler Hartzler, Rochester, Ryan and wife Jodi Hartzler, Russiaville, Josh and wife Misty Lowe, Twelve Mile, Stephanie and husband Jerry Zartman, Fulton, Adam and wife Amy Lowe, Lafayette, Kelly and husband Dennis Geise, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Brandi Christianson, Kokomo, and Rebecca and husband Dr. Steve Turzinski, Jess Bowers, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jake Casper and George Casper, one sister Jane Rentschler, and one daughter, Sharon Kay Hartzler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana with the Rev. George Hapner and Rev. Kenn Freeland officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru, Indiana.
