GIVIN, Ruth J.

BURDETT: 82, of Burdett, NY, passed away June 13, 2014. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home; followed by a committal service and burial at the Union Cemetery of Hector, Burdett.

Ruth was the Deputy Mayor of Burdett. She was also a member of the local Red Hat Society and volunteered for the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary, Relay for Life Survivors Dinner Celebration, and the Reynoldsville Food Pantry. She also enjoyed her Wednesday afternoon's playing cards with friends and the Thursday afternoon Senior Bowling League.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Earl "Sonny" Givin; parents, Charles and Edith (Coykendall) Carrigan; siblings, Elaine Anderson, Gerald Carrigan, Robert Carrigan, and Vera Thomas, and granddaughter, Michaela Givin Kelly.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Abbey of Cherry Creek, NY, Joan (Ward) Kalmbach of Largo, FL, and Tammy (John) Vona of Corning; three sisters, Marjorie Starkweather of Montour Falls, Helen VanSkiver of Odessa, and Arlene "Jamie" Sherrouse of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren, Alicia Abbey, Philip Vona and Courtney Vona; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Burdett Vol. Fire Department., Schuyler County Vol. Ambulance, or the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary.
