Born on November 22, 1946 in Buffalo, New York, he has lived in Lorain since the early 1980's.
For 22 years, Michael served in the United States Coast Guard, being stationed all around the Great Lakes. Upon his retirement, he held the rank of Chief Boatswain's Mate.
After his time in the military, he worked for Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority for 14 years as a warehouse supervisor in shipping and receiving.
Michael enjoyed wood working and doing home improvements.
He is survived by his two sons, Angelo (Danielle) and Vincent (Amy); 5 grandchildren; his companion of 13 years, Candy Landry; and his brothers, Tony and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Eleanor Amato.
Private services were held for the family.
