Ronald Lee Tracy

Ronald Lee Tracy, 60, after an extended illness, died February 14, 2003. The only son of Arthur Lawrence and Elva Burnham Tracy, he was born in the old Dee Hospital in Ogden on December 29, 1942. As an infant, he lived in the Tracy home in Marriott on 12th Street. Later he moved to P-31 Victory Road in Washington Terrace. He told us stories about the Christmas tree forts and the ice pond. As a teenager, he helped his parents build a new home in South Ogden. He was in the first graduating class of Bonneville High School. He attended Weber State College and received a Bachelor of Accounting. Then he went to the U of U and earned his MBA degree in one year. Ron went to work at Hill AFB as a systems analyst for 2 ½ years. While there he developed an inventory control system. It was used thoughout the Armed Forces.

In September of 1969 he started teaching accounting at latter-Day Saints Business College. He headed the accounting department from 1969 – 1983. He worked many long hours at LD for 29 years. He coached the basketball team for several years in his spare time. Ronald wasn’t paid for the extra time and work, it was all from a love of the students. He passed the CPA Exam in 1970. Ron loved baseball and softball. He was a big fan of Duke Snider and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Ron played right field on teams that went to Regionals and All-Church several times. As a young man and active member of the LDS Church, he wanted to go on a mission. Due to the Vietnam War limits on missionaries, Ron gave someone else that chance. He couldn’t be drafted due to his medical problems. He was a High Priest at the time of his death. Temple and genealogy work were some of his loves, too. His most recent calling was teaching the Family History class with his wife, Patti. Many times they could be found at a Family History Library. When healthier, he and the family went on many vacations to state and national parks. He enjoyed camping, hiking the trails, and visiting historical sites.

He met Paggi Wiggins in late 1973 and they were married the next year on August 9th in the Ogden Temple. They had 4 wonderful sons together. In 2001, they welcomed 2 daughters-in-law to their eternal family. They were looking forward to the coming birth of their first grandchild this April. Ronald is survived by Patti, his wife and their family: John and Krisan, Brian and Barbara, Rodney, and Andrew. Also surviving are his mother, Elva, South Ogden; sister Cindy (Todd) Marcusen and her family; South Ogden, mother-in-law, Alice Wiggins, St. George; and his wife’s family: Maryann (Lee) Stevens, Provo; Bob (Linda) Wiggins, SLC; Nancy (Craig) Richards, Colorado Springs, CO; Jim (Lisa) Wiggins, Woods Cross; Dave (Julie) Wiggins, St. George; Scott (Kristi) Wiggins, WVC. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Tracy; father-in-law, Edward Wiggins and all his grandparents.
