Ada Taylor Compton Stepp, a known resident of Fairview and a Mingo County school teacher many years ago, died in Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Stepp, was the widow of Mont Stepp, a member of a pioneer Tug Valley family. A native of Russell, Virginia, she was born February 4, 1889, and was the daughter of Wade and Jane Taylor.

Mrs. Stepp came to Mingo County in 1914 and at that time resided in Matewan. She was first married to Logan Talbert Compton who died in 1932. Some years later she was married to Mont Stepp who preceded her in death in 1945.

She was a member of the Matewan United Methodist Church and for many years was active in Calista Boyd Chapter No. 104, Order of the Eastern Star.

At the time of her death, she was survived by two daughters; one sister, Mrs. Nora Taylor of Honaker, Virginia, one brother, Walker Taylor of Wayne; four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Another daughter, Mrs. June Compton Bailey, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted from Weaver Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Everett L. Branham officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY.
