Nancy Lou Slagle was born September 28, 1934 in Otho, Iowa to Walter and Ruth (Hart) Barnett. She attended Callender and Fort Dodge Schools. She was united in marriage to William H. Slagle on April 20, 1952 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. To this union three children were born, Steven, Jan and Laurie. The family lived in Clinton, Iowa until 1960 when they returned to Fort Dodge where they have lived since. Nancy was the area manager for S & H Green Stamps for many years and also worked for Baker Pipe and Supply. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club. Nancy especially enjoyed being with her family as they were very important to her.
After a short battle with cancer, Nancy Lou Slagle died at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge on June 12, 2014 at the age of 79 years.
She is survived by her husband William of 62 years, children; Steven (Martha) Slagle of Algona, Jan of Des Moines, and Laurie (Don) Hallsted of Fort Dodge, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Gordon, Robert and Bobbie, and 4 sisters, Mary, Betty, Lois and Dorothy.
