DARTMOUTH ~ John L. Waldo Jr. age 94 years of Dartmouth, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010 after a long illness.

Born May 12, 1915, the son of the late John L. and Bertha (Briggs) Waldo, he was educated at the Betsy B. Winslow School, Tabor Academy and Standford University.

John was co-owner of the "0utdoorsman" sporting goods, and was active in boating and fishing. He was co-founder of the first International Swordfish Tournament out of Cuttyhunk. He was active in town politics and served as chairman of the finance committee in the 1950's. John and his late wife Marjorie retired to Florida in the 1970s, returning to Dartmouth in 2002. John and his wife Marjorie were together for 72 years and she passed away in 2008.

Survivors include his son John III of New Jersey and his daughter Ann Moniz of Dartmouth, grandsons Jay Elsner of New Bedford and Kevin Elsner and his fiancee Cindy Amancio-Dexter of No. Dartmouth.
