Obituary; William as a youth moved to Mt. Pleasant, Texas and grew to manhood there. He farmed in Texas for a time and later began his railroad career, living in Parsons, Junction City and Muskogee, Oklahoma. He returned to Parsons in 1927 and had lived there since that time. He retired from the Katy Railroad as a locomotive fireman. He was an ardent sportsman and was interested in stamp collecting. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Muskogee, and the B. of L.F. & E. (Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman & Engine man) William died in the Katy Employees hospital. His health had been failing for three years and entered the hospital in July. He was 78 years o months 10 days old. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife Mattie, his daughter Mrs. Jessie Folowell, of Cookville,Texas his step-daughter Mrs. Margaret Phinis, of the home, two sons, Woody Cobb of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Cecil Cobb of Sierra Vista, Arizona, a step son Ralph Reynolds, of Parsons; 14 Grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. One son preceded his death. Funeral services at the Blossom Funeral Home, Dr. Richard L. Waltz officiated and interment in the family lot at Oakland or Oakwood Cemetery.
NOTE: I changed the year of his birth according to his memorial book record. He was born in 1883. His Grandson Charles Cobb said William had lied about his age so he could go to work for the railroad.
