Son of John Joseph and Mary Theresa "Tressie" (Mauren) Affholter. Conrad was born in Dallas Township in Clinton County, Michigan. He came to Wyandotte about 1891. He married Clara Sauer September 22, 1904 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. In 1904 he was a machine hand. This is where he registered for the draft in 1917/18 at which time he resided at 1321 Fourth St. N.W. and was a post office clerk in Grand Rapids. The 1920 census finds him, his wife and four children on Sullivan Street, back in Ford Village (now part of Wyandotte), Ecorse Township, Wayne County, Michigan. Conrad is a fitter in the shipyard. In 1930 he and Clara with their eight children, are living at 2480 Eighth in Wyandotte and he is working as a house decorator and painter.

NOTE: Conrad Leo stated his birthdate was September 7, 1880 on his draft registration card for the first World War. This was the date on his death certificate and the 1900 census states he was born Sept 1880 in Michigan. The headstone has only the year of 1881 and is the only document I found that has 1881.
