After coming to the United States in 1923, he settled in Colfax, and then came to Bloomington where he has been a longtime resident. William had worked for Amoco Oil Co. for 38 years as an agent, delivering fuel to area farmers. He retired in 1972.
He married Virginia M. Payne on Feb. 14, 1940, in University City, Missouri.
He was survived by a son, Fred Pingle of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
