Mrs. George Kirby
Mrs. George Kirby, 58, died early today, July 16, 1955, at her home at 444 West Lincoln Highway. She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Kirby was born October 3, 1896 at Malta, the daughter of Patrick Riley. She attended Malta Schools and Northern Illinois State College at DeKalb. She was married to George Kirby on July 1, 1922 in DeKalb. Kirby is a retired car dealer. Surviors include: two daughters, Mrs. Roy Allen, DeKalb, and Georgia Kirby, at home; two brothers, William Riley, Dixon, and John Riley, Miami, Fla.; Three sisters, Mrs. Mae MacAleer, Oak Park, Mrs Joseph Askvig, Rochelle, and Mrs. C.A. Busse, DeKalb; and two grandchildren*. Mrs Kirby was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in DeKalb, the Catholic Daughters, Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Mary's Hospital Auxillary. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, in St. Mary's Church in charge of the Rev. Harold Nilges. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Ronan Mortuary where friends may call until time of services. Mrs. Kirby had apparently taken her own life and an inquiry was to be conducted this afternoon by Deputy Coroner Paul Van Natta.
