Amos Hamilton Arthur hired on with the Louisville & Nashville Railroad July 1, 1897 as a Fireman and was promoted to Locomotive Engineer April 1902. After almost 43 yrs, he retired April 1, 1940. October 4, 1904 he married the former Lina Dolly Burnette and they were blessed with seven children. The family home is at 903 Douglas Avenue, Nashville, Tenn. He recently was awarded a 50-year Honor Badge from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers....March 1955 issue of "The Locomotive Engineers Journal" pg 193
