Mildred W. Adams, 81, of Greenfield Drive in Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at her home.

She was born Saturday, March 20, 1926, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late George and Agnes (Wagonner) Wise.

Mildred was a 1943 graduate of Carlisle High School and had attended the Art Institute of Chicago.

She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Carlisle, the Carlisle Junior Civic Club, and the former Carlisle Hospital Ladies Auxiliary where she served as president in 1966 and 1982. She also volunteered for many years at the former Carlisle Hospital Gift Shop.

Mildred was a devoted homemaker, and formerly employed at the former C.H. Masland and Sons in Carlisle.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Louise Tuomey and Elvira Englund.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert A. Adams; a son, Thomas W. Adams of Philadelphia; two daughters, Joann (and her husband, Jay) Eberle of Boiling Springs and Barbara L. Adams of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Edward T. D'Agostino officiating. Burial will be held in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
