Carol Alison "Honey" (Minturn) Gerlach, 84, of Leon, WV, passed away May 26, 2014, in the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pt. Pleasant.

She was born June 22, 1929, in Leon, WV, the daughter of the late Guy and Lena (Thomas) Minturn. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney A. Kay, who was a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force and longtime educator for the Jackson County, WV, school system. On August 10, 1992, her second husband, friend, and soul mate, Ross R. Gerlach, passed away. He was a longtime member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local #132, Charleston, and a member of the Shrine.

Her precious grandson, Ryan Ross King, was born May 14, 1987, then, at 14 ½ years of age, passed away February 23, 2002. Her half brother, Gene Thomas and his wife Dorothy, also preceded her in death.

She was a proud graduate of Pt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1947, and the family requests that donations be made in her name to: Point Pleasant Alumni Association, c/o Wilma Fisher, 1919 Marquette Avenue, Pt. Pleasant, WV, 25550.

She is survived by her dearest daughter, Katheleen Kane King of Gallipolis, OH, her devoted grandson, of whom she was very proud, Guy Edward King of Gallipolis, OH, three living stepchildren, James R. "Jimmy" Gerlach of Mt. Alto, Patsy (John) Nelson of Dayton, OH, and Shirley M. Riffle of Mt. Alto; six step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, 157 Evans Road, Evans, WV 25241, telephone, (304) 372-2081. Pastor Jeff Patrick, Pastor Mike Lynn, and Monsignor, William R. Myers will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Roseberry Cemetery, just off St. Rt. 2, Leon, WV. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
